Things To Do

Derby Riverboat

Derby Riverboat offers electric powered boat trips on the River Derwent.

The Derby Riverboat runs between Spring and Autumn taking 12 passengers at a time on regular trips up and down the river from the city centre up to Darley Abbey and back (taking approximately 45 minutes).

There is an audio commentary on the way up the river which is crammed with facts about Derby’s fascinating history and it’s exciting plans for the future. There are on board refreshments and educational entertainment for children of all ages.

It is about a 25 minute walk to Phoenix Green. Follow our Derby Riverside Walking Route  from Derby station to the Museum of Making. From the Museum of Making cross the bridge and turn left. you will see the boat located under the next bridge

Please note that the Causey Bridge platform requires passengers to board the boat via a swimming pool style ladder and is therefore not recommended for all visitors.
The boarding platform will be upgraded to a pontoon in summer 2023 to become the Phoenix Green Boat Station. Once operational the Phoenix Green Boat Station will allow passengers in wheelchairs to make use of  a lift. Currently there is only one boarding / disembarking point.
