All aboard: Attenborough and Beeston

Explore Nottinghamshire towns and villages by train. Here are a few suggestions of places to visit.

Attenborough Nature Reserve

Explore this stunning Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust reserve, less than 10 minutes’ walk from the station. Enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of nature on the lakes and by the River Trent, especially water birds. You can sample tea and cake in the visitor centre cafe and browse in the shop, or head to one of the villages’ pubs for a pint before catching the train home.

Beeston Marina and Canalside Heritage Centre

Take a stroll along the canal or watch the world go by at the Canalside Heritage Centre. A local hub for arts and crafts, there are free guided walks and family activities throughout the summer holidays too.
There are plenty of places to eat and drink in Beeston, or enjoy a trip to the Arc Cinema.

Nottingham

Did you know Nottingham city centre is just 9 minutes from Attenborough and 5 minutes from Beeston by train? Enjoy the hustle and bustle of this historic city, with family attractions like the National Justice Museum, Cave Escape and Nottingham Castle.

Join all three destinations with a canalside walk

Walk from Nottingham city centre to Beeston station (4 miles) or continue for another 2 miles to Attenborough. Walkers looking for a longer distance challenge can continue a further 5.5 miles to Long Eaton station: Try the walk
