Things To Do

Transition Belper Eco Market

12 September 2021

Eco market with food, music, and sustainable market stalls including The Repair Cafe.

On September 12th, Transition Belper will be taking over the Market Place and the Memorial Gardens to bring you food, music, and sustainable market stalls from Belper’s talented traders.

We are hoping that the market will be a celebration of all the good things Belper can do to encourage sustainability and to tackle climate change.

Open Sunday, from 10am – 3pm, the Transition Belper Eco Market will have over 20 stalls as well as the Belper Repair Café at Number 28. With plenty to do for all the family it’s a great opportunity to reconnect and think about how we can all improve the environment around us.

Visitors to the market will also be able to meet the Transition Belper team and learn more about their many projects, including: Belper Goes Green, the Station Gardens, The Repair Café, Belper Parks Volunteers, The Community Conversation, and Apple Day – amongst others. The event will also see the debut of the Wheely Green Solar trailer!

Welcome Back Repair Café

After almost two years Transition Belper’s Repair Café will also be returning to Number 28 on the 12th of September, with its mission to rescue people’s broken items from the scrap pile. The service helps people save money and the environment, as less materials and energy are needed towards making new goods, and represents a small step towards a much needed mend and repair economy.

Volunteer repairers can tackle small electrical items such as toasters, hairdryers, lamps, radios and headphones. Clothing, garden tools, bikes, computers, hand tools and small items of furniture can also be considered for repair. The repair service is free but donations are very welcome.

Join The Team

Transition Belper is run by volunteers and are always looking for new people to join the team. If you’re interested in improving the community and feel passionately about the climate emergency please visit our stall to say hello.
