Leawood Pumphouse Open Days

3 August 2023

Visit the magnificent beam engine at Leawood Pumphouse.

Leawood Pumphouse was built in 1849 to pump water from the River Derwent into Cromford Canal.

It is now well over 150 years old but remains in pristine working condition thanks to the dedication of the Middleton Top and Leawood Pump Volunteer Group.

Leawood Pumphouse has regular steaming and open (not in steam) dates throughout the year from Easter until October.

From Cromford station it is about a 30 minute (1.5 mile) walk along the Cromford Canal, see the Cromford walking route from our Activity Book

From Whatstandwell station it is about a 40 minute (2 mile) walk along the Cromford Canal, see the Whatstandwell walking route from our Activity Book

Address

Leawood Pump House is situated on the Cromford Canal, just beyond High Peak Junction. See the walking routes from either Cromford or Whatstandwell station in our Family Activity Book - see links above.
