A lovely 6 mile circular walk from Whatstandwell station with a very nasty murder.

A lovely 6 mile circular walk and a very nasty murder. On 21st August 1823, George Townley roamed the field paths between Whatstandwell and Wirksworth. What happened later that day will never be forgotten. We will follow his route until the sticky end, unravelling the reasons why such a crime was committed. Expect hills and chills: enjoy the stunning views while his dreadful tale unfolds.

What you’ll need:

Picnic lunch

Suitable clothing and footwear. The route includes unsurfaced paths with stiles, through woodland and includes some steep slopes.
