Peak District Mining Museum explores the world of a Derbyshire Lead Miner. The museum has activities for children including panning for gold and numerous artefacts for all ages to discover. The museum is located in The Grand Pavilion along North and South Parade, a ten minute’ walk from Matlock Bath Station.
The museum welcomes’ thousands of visitors every year, many in school and other organised groups and is packed with artefacts and things to do for youngsters. Groups benefit from the services of a guide who will use stories and activities to enrich the experience.
It’s best to allow 2-3 hours for the combined museum and real historic underground lead mine. You should allow at least an hour for each.
The underground trips are limited and numbers are restricted, please check our News or Facebook page for latest information. Group leaders should get in touch in advance in advance to check availability of the museum and the mine tour. It is important that groups book in advance to avoid clashing with other groups.
